Police were called to the complex on West Passaic Street around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 where a man later identified as Ramsey Thompson approached the victim and asked for money, Rochelle Park Police Capt. James DePreta said.

The victim refused and was then pushed to the ground, his wallet forcibly removed from a back pocket, DePreta said.

Sgt. Brian Cobb along with Patrolmen Todd Starling, Joe Buono, and Evan Migliore, spotted Thompson walking on Bennett Avenue, and was found in possession of the victim’s wallet and its contents, the captain said.

Thompson was charged with robbery and committed to the Bergen County Jail. Officers recovered the wallet containing cash, credit cards, and gift cards, and returned it to the victim. The victim did not require medical attention.
